Carlos Yulo made history by becoming the first ever Filipino gymnast to win a gold medal at the world championships. Yulo bagged gold in the floor exercise final in Stuttgart on Saturday. The gymnast is the youngest competitor in this year's event at 19. The Filipino also earned a spot for the Tokyo Olympics with an 18th-place finish in the all-around qualifying. Yulo improved on last year's bronze medal. "Last year, I was looking at my medal and I was like, ‘I will get the gold medal next year,’" Yulo said. While the gymnast's feat is historic, basketball continues to loom large for hoops-mad Filipinos. Yulo is hoping his achievement will bring interest and growth in the sport in the Philippines. "Filipinos, they like basketball, but we're small," he joked, suggesting gymnastics was a better fit.
Q1. Is gymnastics a better sports for Filipinos than basketball?
