President Rodrigo Duterte warned that he may be forced to reinstate stricter curbs in Metro Manila if coronavirus cases and deaths do not slow down. The capital is under general community quarantine until July 31. A study projected that virus cases may hit 80,000 by the end of the month. The Department of Health has reported over a thousand infections for five consecutive days since Duterte decided to keep Metro Manila under general community quarantine on July 16 to allow business to remain open. The government has also deployed the police in an effort to clamp down on local transmission.
