Senator Manny Pacquiao urged Filipinos to set aside the reported SEA Games issues and instead show support for local athletes competing in the biennial regional event saying "they are our face, this is our pride". The 30th Southeast Asian Games will be held from Nov 30 to Dec 11. There will be a record of 529 events in 56 sports to be contested at the biennial regional sporting event being tagged by the Philippines as a "stepping stone" for a possible bid to host the 2030 Asian Games. The Philippines allocated a budget of P7.5 billion to host the Games but not without concerns and controversies.
